:Unfortunately I won't have access to my fathers ac equipment anymore. I don't live very close to him. :Here are the things I'm considering: :pull everything apart and inspect/replace condensor, drier, o-rings, and expansion valve if needed. Not sure what to do if suction throttle valve is bad since it is NLA. Convert to 134a and test. :Take it to a ac tech (if a good one can be found) and see if they can give me a better idea of what may be wrong. :Remove ac all together...You are in woodland hills, ca. you may just make an appt. with Greg/Sebastian at specialty Z. If you were closer, I would assist you. You will need a pump and guage set. Your car, but I would go simple before starting to tear the system apart. 134a conversions are hit/miss really, they are involved and not truly a "drop-in" and go conversion. Sometimes they work, sometimes not. 134 is a different coolant, not compatible with the mineral oil in your system etc etc. To do it "right" is expensive and it still will not cool as well as a true r12 system. Again, I would start "fresh," and do the pull/charge over again, you can rent or buy a reasonable AC pump on craigslist, guage sets are cheap, new or used. I actually need someone to build a computer for me if you are skilled in this type of work...perhaps a trade out?
